Financial Education and Independent Living 

SEssion details
Informal education workshops to provide knowledge of financial independence such as understanding tax, national insurance, budgeting and managing debt. Plus living independently such as understanding mortgages and rental agreements, support services and mental health awareness.

The workshops aim for students to look at their realistic planned salary and compare this to their planned outgoings to understand the impact of financial planning for lifelong well-being. Includes parent and carer aspects of financial services support too.

Next Steps Progression Event 

Session details
A virtual progression event to provide further support for students in years 12 and 13 about universities and university life- including student finance and course videos from university ambassadors.

Also information and videos about apprenticeships, careers information regarding choosing your progression route based on current labour market information plus a careers challenge and interviews with a photographer, graphic designer, TV & radio presenter and construction manager, mental health information and also the opportunity for live Q&A sessions with various university ambassadors

Student Finance Workshop

Session details
On-site and virtual informative, interactive workshops about student finance including tuition and maintenance loans plus grants, bursaries and fee waivers.

In-person group workshops and also an online evening event for students, parents and carers to provide an up-to-date overview of student finance, application processes and budgeting effectively

Interview Skills

SEssion Details
An online and in-person event to build confidence and self-esteem regarding university and job interviews.

The interactive, fun event will encourage participants to consider their own unique skills and how these can enable them to stand out, also including activities to finesse CV’s and personal statements as well as interview techniques and practice sessions.

Personal Statements 

Session Details
​A series of on-site and virtual workshops to support students with their UCAS personal statement.

These can be provided in a group format or as one to one support. There will also be online evening drop-ins to provide additional support.

U.N.I Day

Session details
An impartial interactive event featuring UCAS information, student finance and budgeting skills, accommodation information and videos, stretch and challenge activities and insights into the university student experience.

Including university ambassador experiences and Q&A sessions. Plus informal education activities to identify skills for UCAS statements and CV’s. Pre and post event support will be available to all participants. Plus fun, interactive, bonding activities in a university setting.

Independent Living Residential 

Session details
An end of year residential experience for students who have been actively involved in a number of ThinkHigher events throughout the year.

This fun, informal education residential will provide information and skills about independent living by giving the participants a budget to use for shopping, food prep and entertainment for 48 hours combined with fun, skill building activities; information about living independently and Q&A opportunities with university student ambassadors.

Session details
A ‘speed dating’ style networking event with a range of informative and supportive people including student ambassadors, careers and employability links, business leaders, academics and more.

​An opportunity to build confidence, develop skills, start conversations and develop initiatives to support networking and core skills whilst building connections, meeting employers and other likeminded people from a range of backgrounds

Passtonbury Bootcamp

Session details
​​A whole day event to prepare year 13 students for exams following the impact of the Covid pandemic which led to many year 13 students previously unable to sit formal GCSE exams.

The event will build confidence, provide exam and revision skills and techniques as well as mental health awareness
